Minister M. Jakubauskienė will participate in an informal meeting of EU health ministers in Cyprus.
Today, Minister of Health Marija Jakubauskienė is departing for Nicosia, Cyprus, where on February 25–26 she will participate in an informal meeting of European Union (EU) health ministers.
Ministers of the member states will discuss the establishment of a European Clinical Pharmacy Competence Centre. This initiative aims to strengthen evidence-based medicine, harmonize methods for the therapeutic evaluation of medicines, and ensure faster and more equitable access to innovative medicines for all EU patients.
One of the topics of the informal meeting is public mental health and inclusion. The session will discuss how to integrate aspects of age, gender, and socioeconomic status into health policy in order to reduce inequalities. Special attention will be given to youth mental health, early intervention, and the creation of a safer digital environment.
It is planned that ministers responsible for the health sector will also review the implementation of the European Health Data Space initiative and the challenges that arise. Discussions will focus on ensuring the smooth exchange of health data between countries, which is essential both for improving patient care and for the safe development of artificial intelligence in the field of medicine.
Bilateral meetings of Minister M. Jakubauskienė are also scheduled during the visit. These meetings are expected to cover cooperation in health crisis preparedness, issues related to the qualifications of specialists, as well as efforts to combat disinformation in the healthcare sector.
The informal meeting of ministers is being held in Cyprus, as the country holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union.
