698A5610.jpgDr. Gintautas Oleka obtained his professional qualification as a physician and surgeon and a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree at Vilnius University.
The Adviser has many years of experience in practical surgery and in management within the healthcare system.
Before taking up the position of Adviser to the Minister of Health, Dr. G. Oleka worked as a surgeon in hospitals in Vilnius and the capital region, headed surgical departments at Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, and also served as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the hospital. From 2006 to 2008, while serving as Adviser to the Minister of Health, Dr. G. Oleka was responsible for the organization of personal healthcare services.
The Minister’s Adviser’s professional interests and areas of public policy include personal healthcare issues related to the accessibility and quality of services, patients’ day-to-day needs and the work of healthcare professionals, as well as healthcare system resources.
The Minister’s Adviser, Dr. G. Oleka, speaks English and Russian.
