The list of affected countries was updated on Friday, 2 October, adding Kyrgyzstan. The coronavirus incidence rate in this country and other 95 countries exceeds 25 cases per 100 000 population in the last 14 days. Arrivals from or transits through these countries will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. The updated list will take effect as of 5 October.

Another change that has come into effect as of 2 October is that it is no longer required for foreigners coming from the affected countries to have taken a test for COVID-19 (coronavirus infection) at maximum 72 hours before the entry to Lithuania with a negative result thereof. 14 days’ self-isolation however remains mandatory.

This week, self-isolation requirements have been removed for certain categories of travellers.

From now on, it will no longer be required to self-isolate not only for teachers returning from the work of teaching the Lithuanian language in schools in Belarus, but also for clergy performing pastoral work in Belarus.

Nor will the self-isolation requirement apply to certain groups of law enforcement officers involved in FRONTEX-coordinated international operations in the EU and in third countries.

Also, it will not be mandatory to self-isolate for those who travel through an affected country by air without leaving the airport transit area or travel in transit from a country unaffected by a coronavirus infection through Poland or Estonia with essential stops only, such as refuelling, hygiene, etc., in Poland.

Arrivals from Poland and Estonia will not be required to self-isolate when travelling for work, studies, agricultural activities or health care.

Every traveller returning to or arriving in Lithuania by air, sea or land using regular, special and charter services will have to register electronically with the National Public Health Centre (NPHC) by completing a questionnaire. The confirmation received - the so-called QR code - will have to be shown before boarding a plane, ferry, bus or train.

In the case of individual travelling by land, it is obligatory to register electronically with the NPHC within 12 hours from the moment of arrival in the Republic of Lithuania.

The list of affected countries is subject to weekly updates depending on the epidemiological situation in foreign countries.
