More opportunities for psychological help to the public and to medical professionals

During the pandemic of coronavirus infection (COVID-19), psychologists of the mental health centers and emotional support lines will provide more accessible confidential psychological help to the public. A new voluntary psychological assistance initiative is also opening for medical professionals.

According to Health Minister Aurelius Veryga, the Head of State-level Emergency Operations, it is obvious that the stressful work of doctors in hospitals and other health care facilities and isolation at home, changing everyday routines and habits causes great psychological stress.

People will receive psychological counseling anonymously as there is no way to securely identify the caller remotely. The purpose of this decision is not only to ensure continuity of care for existing patients but also to provide assistance to people experiencing psychological difficulties due to life-changing events following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
