From Monday, 31 January, there will be no changes in the list of affected countries, i.e., all the countries continue as either red or grey. Until now, travellers who were not vaccinated and who had no record of past infection arriving in Lithuania by other than a carrier transport, or in other specified cases, with no evidence of negative COVID-19 testing were required to book a test within 24 hours of arrival in Lithuania. This test was previously available from a mobile point, but from Monday, these travellers will have to pay themselves for their COVID-19 testing booked at a medical testing facility.

From now on, testing will no longer be free for crew members transporting passengers on international routes by all types of vehicles, when their planned stay in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania is longer than 24 hours, also for foreigners arriving in Lithuania for special humanitarian reasons.
Frontier workers, also those crossing the border between the Republic of Lithuania and another European Economic Area country every day or every working day: those travelling for work-related purposes, pupils and those transporting them to an education establishment, also students and trainees will have to pay for their own testing.

To reduce the spread of the virus, it is recommended that all travellers take precautionary measures throughout the trip. It is important to wear a medical mask, keep distance, avoid gatherings, avoid non-ventilated premises, and to wash hands frequently. People are advised against travelling if they feel cold symptoms (cough, runny nose, heavy breathing, running temperature, etc.).

The weekly list of affected countries is updated every Friday to take effect on the following Monday. According to the maps of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), countries are classified by four colour categories. They fall subject to different requirements. Lithuania’s list of affected countries marks countries in a specific colour according to the colour of the most affected region in that country. Third countries that do not report to the ECDC fall into the grey category.

Please also remember that according to Resolution No 152 of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania of 26 February 2020 declaring a national emergency, border crossing will be restricted preventing entry of foreigners to the Republic of Lithuania. Exemptions for foreigners (from third countries) as regards the entry to the Republic of Lithuania have been laid down in paragraph 2.3 of the mentioned Resolution. For more information on border crossing or the arrival of foreigners, contact the State Border Guard Service (internet website: http://www.pasienis.lt), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (internet website: https://urm.lt). Where a foreigner qualifies for at least one of these exemptions allowing their entry to Lithuania, they will also be required to meet the travellers’ requirements detailed in the table below, which apply to all incoming travellers.
