The lockdown and movement restrictions extended for another month

The quarantine restrictions have contributed to slowing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lithuania, but morbidity rates are still high. Therefore, on Wednesday the Government has decided to extend the lockdown until 28 February. The ban on moving between municipalities will be valid until 28 February as well.

Lithuanian healthcare workers start getting the COVID-19 vaccine

On Sunday, vaccination of healthcare workers against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) began. Hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and Panevėžys agreed to start the vaccination process at the same time, at 8 am. Vaccination of all the healthcare workers in the country should be completed in the first quarter of 2021.

Three European countries listed as affected

Following the Friday update of the list of affected countries, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland continue on the list along with the third countries. This means that from Monday, 28 December, people arriving from or travelling through these countries will be required to self-isolate for 10 days or take a test for coronavirus (COVID-19).
